Ramada Resort Camakila Saving Teens in Bali

“Save a Teen” is a fundraising campaign aiming to channel financial support to academically achieving students with good moral grit from financially disadvantaged families. This campaign is endorsed by Putera Sampoerna Foundation (PSF), a non-benefit educational foundation which has absolutely nothing to do with the former Sampoerna cigarette brand.

For 2011, Putera Sampoerna Foundation initiated to build a Sampoerna Academy, a boarding school with international curriculum here in Buleleng, Bali. Ramada Resort Camakila feels the urge to help this program, therefore we are decided to partnering with Putera Sampoerna Foundation and together we are running the Save a Teen fundraising campaign inside our hotel.

With the help of Ramada Camakila’s front liners whether in the hotel lobby, Azaa Restaurant, TAO Beach House Restaurant or even in our Salila Spa, we urge our hotel guests to participate by buying coupons, IDR 10.000 (ten thousand rupiahs) per coupon, endorsed by Putera Sampoerna Foundation and in return the donator guests will get a thank you gift in a form of a nice bookmark.

This program plans to perform for half year in Ramada Camakila, begins this June, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, hopefully this good effort can create a much better opportunity for those 150 students who study at Sampoerna Academy Bali in 2011.

SPLENDID THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU OUTDOOR

Chef Colette Khan, new Chef de cuisine at Azaa Restaurant – Ramada Resort Camakila

Ramada Resort Camakila warmly welcomes a brand new Chef, Colette Khan from Australia, starting this April 2010.  Colette likes to play with the recipes and mix ingredients which make her unique style stand out when presenting a dish. Having a multi-cultured city like Melbourne, she has mastered not just Western cuisine but also Italian, French, Japanese and her favorite, Indian cuisine.  With this kind of talent, we trust her to run the Azaa Restaurant, Ramada Camakila’s signature all-day dining restaurant that provides an elegant contemporary setting for international fare, comfort foods, Asian and Indonesian selections.

In Chef Colette’s mind, the ideal type of dish would be a seafood platter char grilled with fresh herbs and lime or seafood fresh with a side of boiled baby potatoes, a fresh garden salad and a garlic aioli; this should be great to serve among family and friends.  For her, food is not merely about creating a visual experience but also taste and smell awakening, that is how she defines the art of cooking.

The comfort feeling and happiness expression from the guest are the most important factor for this humble Chef, when you eat at Azaa Restaurant, you will find her standing within range with her warm smile, just like a mother who watch her children, concerning on how you enjoying the food.  Her satisfaction is when the guest walk-out the restaurant with a happy dining experience in their faces.

New Fashion Outlet at Ramada Resort Camakila

The needs to have shopping outlet location nearby with good stuffs and fair price somehow become a priority for every guest who stays at one hotel.  Put ourselves in guests shoes, the first thing that we had in mind whenever we are going on vacation, most likely we need to do some shopping and it’s better if the shopping area is within short-walking distance.

Legian-Kuta area is consider a heaven for tourists who like to shop and bargain, you can find interesting items in this area from key chain Bali souvenirs, unique Balinese accessories to trendy beach wears.

Merely the Bali vacation can simply about playing by the beach, enjoy the sun shine and does some shopping. The tendency to always look good on the beach is there all along. Some said, you cannot be on the beach and look outdated.

Galungan and Kuningan festive Holidays

Galungan is a sacret Balinese holiday, to commemorate the creation of the universe and celebrate the Dharma victory, the good (Dharma) is winning over evil (adharma). This year, Galungan falls on May 12th but traditionally Balinese people will start the celebration one day before.

It is believed that during Galungan, the Hinduism God come down to the earth, and during this period, the deified family ancestor descend to their former homes to get prays, offerings and entertained by their family on earth.

10 days after Galungan, the day when the ancestor are sending back to the heavens is known as the Kuningan day.

During this festive days, we can see many Penjor along the streets, Penjor while mounted in front of the house is a rule to the presence of Lord Mahadeva, which is located on Mount Agung.  This Penjor, long decorative bamboo pole-shaped, can be seen lining up all over the city; it also meant to welcome good fortune for those who passing below it.

Galungan and Kuningan treated as very special days for families in Bali, it very common that Balinese people make efforts to return to their own ancestral home during this festive to celebrate these holidays, most using this days for recreation up to the mountain or down to the beach to have a relax moment with their families and friends.

Ayurvedic Healing Massage – the Ayurveda story

The root of Ayurvedic came from the Sanskrit word, Ayurveda or in English easily translates as science of life. The science that refers to Ayurveda is mostly concern on human health, healthful living and how to balance it, through this three elemental energies: vata (air in space – "wind"), pitta (fire in water – "bile") and kapha (water in earth – "phlegm"), those has to comply during the entire span of life and its various phases.

Ramada Resort Camakila participation on the Earth Day – April 22, 2010

The Earth Day, initiated by Senator Gaylord Nelson 40 years ago. Now celebrates, every year on April 22nd, more than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day activities around the world, making it the largest secular civic event in the world.

As a new resort at Legian beachfront, Ramada Resort Camakila of course would like to be part of this Earth Day action, not only during April 22nd, but we would like to continue helping preserve the earth by saving water and using fewer chemicals.

Therefore, starting this April 2010, we urge every of our guests to only change linen every three days. We provide this “Bali Be Green” card, and ask them to place it on the bed whenever they feel it’s time to change the linen. Hopefully this green education can help save our environment and make the world a greener one.

Cooking Class at TAO Beach House Restaurant


TAO Beach House is a modern twist of Thai and Chinese cuisine situated just few steps from the water of Legian beach, presents a new focused Cooking Class hosted by Indonesia’s first Master Thai Chef, Vaewta Chookasem.
